It is a common practice of dairy producers to remove the calf from the mothers soon after birth. If it is a girl it will be raised separately and a boy will be auctioned to the meat industry.
Eating meat is very traditional for many Muslims but when the circumstances change around us brothers and sisters we have a responsibility to ourselves, our families, and our world to be at the forefront of change. If we have better options available to us why do we as Muslims and stewards of the Earth continue to consume foods that harm our health, the planet, and animals? How many of us will say more prayer for health this Ramadan? How many of us will say more prayer for t hose in poverty suffering from hunger and thirst? How many of us will even spare a thought for the animals being exploited and denied their rights on behalf of our demand for more meat? The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said “Whoever of you sees an evil must then change it with his hand. If he is not able to do so, then [he must change it ] with his tongue. And if he is not able to do so, then [he must change it] with his heart. And that is the slightest [effect of] faith.” (Recorded in Muslim) Islam discourages
# Quran 16:66 says # Allah gave milk as a pleasant drink. Sweetness, however, only comes from Mercy and Compassion. Milk is a bitter drink for the cows who endure abuse and suffering. If we drink her sorrow our bellies might be full but our spiritual hearts will be empty.
